Cutting the Cord – Free at Last (Part V)

Free at Last!
Do you feel that? Ahh yes, that’s the sweet freedom of NO CONTRACTS! NO MULTI-YEAR OBLIGATIONS. Now that you are officially getting your TV entertainment directly off the internet, you can officially cut the cord. Call your cable company now and tell them you are done overpaying for their cable service. Chances are that your cable provider might be your Internet provider as well so be nice. You still need to keep your high-speed Internet around. Keep in mind that the cable company will try to significantly increase your internet service because your are no longer “bundling” their crappy cable service. Depending on the area you live in, this might be problematic. Hopefully there is some competition in your area. Ad long as you have multiple companies competing for your business, then you can paly one off the other. I’m luck in my area that we have a couple of options so I’ve been able to keep my 400MB high-speed service at around $50/month. I hope you can too.

Keeping an eye open
Whatever streaming services you decided to go with, always continue checking for new promotions and services. Being free means you are now paying month-to-month and can switch to different services whenever you want. If AT&T TV Now gets too expensive, then look at Hulu Live TV. If Hule Live TV doesn’t have what you want, then maybe PlayStation Vue does or perhaps Sling has added new content at a lower price. It seems like there are new streaming services coming out every other month like Apple TV, Disney and a host of others. The more the merrier I say. Competition keeps the price down and that is good for the consumer.

In summary, I hope these articles were helpful. These are targeted at the average person who may not be all that tech savvy when it comes to this kind of stuff. It is a basic foundation which should be enough for anyone to get started and on the way to cutting the cord. Thank you for reading.
